OUR PEOPLE

NSM & MDK Architects is a fully black-owned company with Level 1 BBBEE status in South Africa. Our focus is on empowering underprivileged communities, particularly in black rural areas. We work closely with these communities to fundraise and implement rural development projects such as the Ladysmith Black Mambazo Music Academy, the Amahlubi Secondary School, and the Diepsloot Radio Station. Additionally, we run educational programs in rural high schools to expose learners to different disciplines within the building industry. Our goal is to provide scholarships, training, and mentorship opportunities to build a more equitable future for all.

Nomagugu Manci

Nomagugu Manci is a professional Architect who has been practising architecture for the past 17  years. Her key roles have been project lead, overseeing design development right through to  completion of projects. She also plays a key role in project administration, and stakeholder  management of any project.

In 2005 she established a practice called (NSM Designs, now trading as NSM Projects/ NSM &  MDK Architects) Over the past 17 years Nomagugu has been fortunate to be part of a number of  prestigious commissions in the province of KwaZulu Natal and beyond. Some of these were in  collaboration and in joint venture with some leading and established practices in industry from  which great value was earned. She has led the professional teams in the delivery of many of the  below listed projects and has over the years developed strong competencies in Industrial &  Commercial Buildings, Healthcare Facilities, Educational Facilities, Sports Facilities as indicated  in projects listed below.

 

 

In 2011, Nomagugu Manci was selected as the Winner of Nedbank Regional Business Achievers  Award in the Professional Category.

Nomagugu is currently appointed and is serving as a committee member on some of the SACAP  Committees. These include the SACAP Disciplinary Tribunal Hearings, SACAP Validation Board,  SACAP Education Committee as well as the Bursary Committee.

Dumisani 'DT' Mdakane

Dumisani ‘DT’ Mdakane is a Master of Architecture with property development certificates. He has experience working on a variety of projects internationally and has served as an associate at Bentel Associates International. He has also worked with a number of institutions as a researcher and advisor, including the heritage council of KwaZulu-Natal and the South African Health Ministry. He has a passion for rural development and community projects and continues to initiate and implement projects in disadvantaged communities. He is currently a director at NSM & MDK Architects.

Tafadzwa Mtisi

Tafadzwa Mtisi is an architect with a B. Arch degree from Natal University. He has experience in 3D presentations, architectural documentation, project administration, site surveys, design, detail development, IT management, staff supervision, and municipal and SDP submissions. He began his career at Julian Conrad Architects and has since worked for various companies, including Johnson Murray Architects and Urban Edge Architects. He is currently an associate at NSM & MDK Architects.

 

Bonga Ntuli

Bonga Ntuli is an experienced designer and researcher with a Master of Architecture degree. He has a passion for green architecture and ensures our designs are sustainable. He has conducted research in South America and Africa. He is also a part-time lecturer and pursuing a Doctorate in Architectural Doctrine. Bonga is dedicated to creating sustainable designs that benefit the environment and communities.

Skhumbuzo Sithole

Skhumbuzo Sithole is an architect with over 21 years of experience and has owned a construction company for 5 years. He has held senior positions in architecture firms and has extensive experience in managing complex architectural projects from design to completion. His role in the company includes leading the project team and managing consultants on select projects. He has been involved in notable projects such as the King Shaka International Airport, Pomeroy Community Health Clinic, and Prasa Station Modernization Project. In the past, Skhumbuzo has also been a lecturer at ML Sultan Technikon and Wits Technikon.
